Lockit was created in 2016 with its first centre in Anse offering 2,000 sqm of rentable space with 320 storage units. The store underwent a number of expansions and over the last three years the Lockit team has been working on a development strategy for the brand.

Lockit's short-term plan is to open 15 centres in France through organic growth as well as acquisitions. Then, in a 2nd phase, the objective is to reach between 30 and 50 centres. The company is considering three new sites in Auvergne, Rhône Alpes.

The challenge:

Jean-François le Saout launched the business in 2016 after studying the self storage market in France for two years. As a former pharmaceutical representative, Jean-François decided to become an entrepreneur to support the development of self storage in France and seize the opportunities offered by this fast-growing market.

One of the company's objectives was to make Lockit sites accessible to all customers 24/7, and to enable anyone to rent units whenever they want.

The Solution:

Lockit appointed Janus due to their solid self storage expertise and because they are the market leader. The Janus design office, in particular, was a real asset in optimising the layout of self storage units.

The company already had an IT solution and website which it integrates with the Nokē Smart Entry System. Lockit is in the process of testing its new plan in collaboration with Janus, utilising the Nokē solution to offer tenants convenience of online bookings, digital keys via an app and a fast service.
