Since 2014, Stauraum has been offering a range of high-quality storage units in Germany‘s young self storage market with a particular focus on customer service excellence. With various unit sizes in a well-kept facility, customers are offered secure, monitored and always accessible additional space for their storage needs, complemented by a wide range of services. With six locations in Bremen, Oldenburg and Kiel, the company is focusing on growth and will be opening more branches every year.

With its latest location in Bremen-Hastedt, the company’s concept has been perfected through keyless access via smartphone and app. To achieve this, Stauraum relies on solutions from Janus International Europe Ltd, including the Nokē Smart Entry system.

The launch began in summer 2022 with the conversion of a former gym and its parking lot into a storage facility with a total area of 1,500 square meters and 200 storage units ranging from 1 to 50 square meters. The site was designed entirely for smart access: the outside door is opened in the same way as the individual units; directly via the control panel of the tenants‘ mobile phone.

The challenge:

Stauraum has been a long-term client of Janus since its launch in 2014 in northern Germany. It was obvious to the team that the next project would be realised with Janus’ complete range of products and services. The Bremen-Hastedt branch was to be set up inside an office building dating back to 1970. The first challenge was to convert a former fitness studio and its parking lot into a storage facility. The second ambition was to provide tenants with even more convenient access to their units.

The solution:

The consultation and planning for maximum space utilisation was the first step. The Nokē Smart Entry System was the best solution for Stauraum’s requirements for improved tenant convenience. The tests of the new electronic locks were convincing in terms of handling and digital management. Just-in-time installation of all the equipment, including a freight lift and software installation in connection with the management programme for the units, rounded off the package.
