Construction Manager

To coordinate and oversee all construction projects across the UK and Europe, supporting and advising the project management team, ensuring contractual obligations and delivery milestones are met.

Responsibilities and duties for the role will include:

  • Provide advice to others (internal and external) on product technical specifications and construction site challenges
  • Support project managers during client site surveys as required, prioritising complex and large-scale projects, monitoring that aspects of a job are appropriately scoped and costed, and delivery milestone risks are identified and mitigated
  • Oversee the pre-construction phase, prioritising complex and large-scale projects, ensuring client obligations and site readiness requirements are met
  • Undertake site quantity surveying/contract valuations, as required
  • Manage subcontractor installation performance and adherence to contracts, proposing corrective action, as required
  • Provide adequate oversight and supervision of all JCT/framework contracts, ensuring contractual obligations on all sides are closely monitored and adequately documented
  • Be the escalation point for the project managers, taking the lead to support/provide robust programme recovery plans/actions and ensuring client communications needs are met
  • Develop and implement key performance measures to evaluate internal project management effectiveness
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with the Construction & Design Manager for projects that require CDM, ensuring compliance with all necessary legislation

Key Attributes / Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience within the construction environment, including Principle, Main and Subcontractor obligations, with an ability to hold yourself and other contractors to account
  • Significant JCT / building contracts experience, including negotiation and programme recovery
  • An ability to facilitate and lead programme recover meetings with clients, sub-contractors and project managers, including in high pressure situations
  • A high level of organisation and prioritisation skills, to ensure full oversight of all UK and Europe programmes, with the autonomy to apportion relevant resource to complex projects as required
  • Effective communicator and calm manner across all communications channels, with a problem-solving mindset
  • A working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015
  • European languages desirable but not essential
