Product Designer

To produce fabrication and assembly drawings in order to support the Production, Operations and Sales Team. To assist the Production Director with the maintenance and further development of our design application (Autodesk Inventor) and processes to support the R&D Team.

Reports to: Production and Logistics Director

Responsibilities and duties for the role will include:

  • Producing detailed fabrication drawings in relation to factory production
  • Producing assembly drawings to support with installation and training processes
  • Designing 2D and 3D designs for marketing purposes
  • Contributing to technical design elements for the quote model
  • Revising drawings as necessary to ensure accurate and up-to-date material specifications
  • Working towards proficiency with software to offer customisation (Lantek)
  • Supporting the R&D Team in creating and improving new and existing products
  • Liaising with the Production, Operations, Design, and Sales Teams; including passing on relevant project details and helping to overcome any on-site challenges
  • Creating 3D images of constructions, whole projects, parts of spaces or particular areas (using AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Max)
  • Carrying out site visits to assess products and ascertain whether they are working effectively
  • Using building plans and surveys to design 2D construction projects for steel storage partitioning systems
  • Producing accurate “take-offs” of material quantities for the Sales Team to use when providing quotations to customers
  • Consulting with Sales Managers, Project Managers and the customer in order to ascertain any further required information about the project – e.g. construction details or installation methods

Key Attributes / Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working within fabrication/construction projects
  • A good understanding of the fabrication processes
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • Autodesk Inventor
    • AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in:
    • Inventor
    • Revit
    • Microsoft Office
  • Flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Committed to ongoing improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Regular travel to Janus Europe sites will be required for this role
