Insights on Self Storage Smart Access
In an industry that has long relied on traditional methods, the self storage sector is experiencing a significant transformation. A recent webinar hosted by the SSA UK highlighted this shift. The webinar focused on the impact of the Nokē Smart Entry system in enhancing operational efficiency and reshaping customer experiences. The event proved to be a success, with over seventy attendees joining. This demonstrates a strong interest in new technology within the industry.
Craig Conway and Paul Shepherd joined from Janus International Europe, along with Sally King from Norbreck Self Storage and Freddie Crichton-Stuart from Wigwam Storage Management Ltd. The participants shared their insights on the pivotal role that technology is playing in the industry.
The Nokē Smart Entry system enables tenants to book storage units online and conveniently download digital keys via their app. This allows for seamless and secure access to their unit without the need for physical keys. The system gives operators the ability to remotely manage their facilities and automate processes.
Post-COVID and Remote Management
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of smart access technologies and remote management, aligning with a broader trend toward reduced human interactions. “Post-COVID, people are less inclined to do face-to-face interactions,” noted Freddie, emphasising the importance of technologies like Nokē that facilitate remote operations.
Remote management has become a critical advantage in maintaining business continuity and meeting customer expectations. The capability to offer fully remote tours has been a game-changer, according to Freddie. Prospective customers can now be guided through facilities virtually, monitoring their progress via CCTV.
The Impact of Technology in Self Storage
Feedback on keyless entry has been overwhelmingly positive. Sally stated, “The older generation is sometimes a bit wary. But once they have downloaded the app, they are so happy.” For those without smartphones, a programmed fob is available. Craig affirmed, “It’s certainly the future of self storage, that’s for sure.”
Paul emphasised the data capture capabilities of Nokē, as Sally explained that the data helps monitor customer patterns and guide business expansion decisions. As the industry evolves, so does the need for comprehensive data analysis.
Economically, the shift to technology like Nokē has brought substantial cost savings by reducing typical office overheads and allowing for a more focused management approach. Both Freddie and Sally expressed their plans to incorporate Nokē into future projects, demonstrating their confidence in the system’s capabilities.
Support and customer service remain paramount, with both Freddie and Sally praising the swift and effective support from Nokē. Sally remarked, “The support that Nokē gives us if we do have any issues is fantastic.” Freddie added, “Any problems we have had, we have managed to resolve very quickly, pretty much while the customer is still on site.”
The self storage industry is advancing with new technologies, facilitating an increase in operational efficiency. Adopting these technologies and innovative solutions will be essential to meet changing customer needs and maintain a competitive edge.
