Location: Office based

Job Purpose:  To lead and enhance the Group’s commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, ensuring sustainable and ethical practices are integrated across all operations.  The ESG Manager will develop strategies, oversee reporting, and facilitate continuous improvement to meet regulatory requirements and align with stakeholder expectations and well as ongoing maintenance of all other related accreditations. Will also line manage the ESG & Sustainability Implementation Lead.

Responsibilities and duties for the role will include:

  • Effectively co-ordinate the ESG team with clear targets and performance management.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive ESG strategies that align with the company’s business goals and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of ESG reports, disclosures, and communications to ensure transparency and accountability to stakeholders including investors, customers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to environmental impacts, social responsibility, and governance practices, recommending and implementing mitigative strategies.
  • Collaborate with different departments to integrate ESG principles into their operational processes and decision-making frameworks.
  • Monitor and analyze legislation, industry trends, and best practices related to ESG, adapting company policies as necessary to maintain compliance and leadership in sustainability.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry groups, and any others, to enhance the company’s ESG profile.
  • Manage cross-functional teams to achieve ESG targets, providing training and support to ensure all employees understand their role in achieving ESG goals.
  • Regularly report to senior management and the board on ESG performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Regularly liaise with the US team regarding Group ESG initiatives.
  • Monthly and quarterly reports, and any ad hoc reporting required.
  • Oversee reporting for other group companies to consistent standards.

Key attributes/skills: 

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in an ESG or sustainability role within a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of ESG reporting standards, compliance requirements, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
